Freud/Watteau
Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza
2012
Brochure for the Freud/Watteau installation, the fourth exhibition of the cycle Exchanging Gazes. The spectator is witness to the dialogue between the works in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum’s collection.

This fourth exchange stems from Lucien Freud’s portrait of Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza (1981–82) containing a fragment of Jean-Antoine Watteau’s Pierrot content (c. 1712).

A Bible paper protects the small-format brochure. The jacket’s typographical exchange depicts the connection between the art of past times and that of the contemporary British artist’s.
